The Cleveland Indians visit Minute Maid Park for Friday night MLB baseball action versus the Houston Astros.
The Cleveland Indians have yet to hit their stride in the early going and are just trying to keep their heads above water until things begin to click. The Indians have dropped five of seven following a 7-4 loss to visiting Tampa Bay on Wednesday. The Tribe fell behind early and were never able to catch up with starter Josh Tomlin giving up six runs on seven hits including a pair of long balls in 2.1 frames to fall to 2-5. Cleveland mustered seven hits and two free passes with Bradley Zimmer going 2-4 with a homer, two RBI’s and a pair of runs while Jason Kipnis and Michael Brantley knocked in a run each. Trevor Bauer shoots for back to back wins when Cleveland hands the ball to him for Friday’s start at Houston. Bauer comes in off of an 8-3 win versus Minnesota with all three runs allowed on seven hits over six frames.

The Houston Astros are looking like one of the top teams in the game with a staggering 29-12 record heading in to their weekend series with Cleveland. The Astros have won nine of ten after a 3-0 victory at the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. The normally potent Stros offense was held in check but starter Lance McCullers Jr. didn’t need much support. McCullers gave Houston six scoreless innings with three hits and a pair of BB allowed to up his record to 4-1. The Astros logged eight hits and two walks with George Springer leading the way with a pair of RBI’s and a run while Jose Altuve went 4-5 and drove in a run with Alex Bregman and Jake Marisnick scoring. The Houston Astros hope Charlie Morton stays hot when he takes the mound against the Cleveland Indians on Friday. Morton has won four in a row and now stands at 5-2 on the season with a 3.92 ERA in eight outings.
The under is 7-2 in Cleveland last 9 games following a loss and Cleveland are 35-16 in their last 51 Friday games while the under is 35-17-4 in Cleveland last 56 road games. Houston are 7-1 in their last 8 games following a win and Houston are 23-7 in their last 30 games on grass while Houston are 25-8 in their last 33 overall. The under is 21-6-2 in the last 29 meetings.
Morton is not my favorite pitcher but I’m going with the red hot Astros to get the win…
