The Arizona Diamondbacks visit Petco Park and the San Diego Padres in a NL West MLB baseball match up.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have been one of the better teams in the National League West and are hoping to stay hot after sweeping the New York Mets. The Diamondbacks downed the Mets 5-4 in eleven innings Wednesday behind solid work from the bullpen and a few clutch hits. D-Backs starter Patrick Corbin was charged with all four runs on nine hits including a pair of homers over six frames before five relievers tossed scoreless baseball. The Snakes totaled eight hits and five walks with Jake Lamb going deep and driving in two with Chris Owings knocking in a run and scoring while Chris Hermann clubbed a walk off bomb in the 11th. The Diamondbacks will send Taijuan Walker to the bump for his first career match up with the Diamondbacks. Walker comes off of a 4-3 defeat to the Pirates with all four runs plated (three earned) on eight hits and three BB in six frames.

The San Diego Padres need a boost in momentum which only winning can produce and that hasn’t happened often enough as the team is last in the National League West. The Padres and their struggles continued in a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the visiting Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday afternoon. SD starter Jarred Cosart gave up a run on four hits and a BB before Kevin Quackenbush allowed two runs to absorb the loss. San Diego was limited to five hits and four free passes with Hunter Renfroe smacking his 8th homer while Manuel Margot singled in Cory Spangenberg. Jered Weaver toes the rubber for the San Diego Padres versus the visiting Diamondbacks Friday. Weaver did not get a decision in a 9-3 loss at the White Sox last time out with just a run allowed on five hits in six frames.
The under is 22-6 in Arizona last 28 road games and Arizona are 6-2 in their last 8 overall while Arizona are 6-2 in their last 8 games on grass. San Diego are 2-7 in their last 9 home games and the over is 9-3-1 in San Diego last 13 home games. Arizona are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.
Walker can be had but I don’t want to overthink this and will side with the Diamondbacks…
