The Oklahoma City Thunder play host to the Houston Rockets in a pivotal Game 3 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Friday.
The Houston Rockets will be aiming to take a commanding 3-0 series lead after rallying late to beat the Thunder by 115-111 in Game 2. James Harden led the team with 35 points and eight assists, Eric Gordon added 22 points, Lou Williams had a rapid-fire 21 points while Patrick Beverley chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 29 from the field, but you can credit this win to their bench who outscored the Thunder’s bench by 50-24. In fact, the Rockets were down by 12 late in the third quarter until the Rockets bench rallied to take the lead in the fourth quarter when Harden came back to seal the victory.

Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder will be feeling demoralised with the loss as they were in control for most of the game. Russell Westbrook led the way with 51 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists, but he went ice-cold in the fourth quarter to finish shooting 17 of 43 from the field. Andre Roberson chipped in with 12 points while Victor Oladipo and Doug McDermott chipped in with 11 points each, but the Thunder just weren’t able to escape with the win despite leading by as many as 15 points in the first half.
The Rockets are 2-5 ATS in their last seven Conference Quarterfinals games, 0-5 ATS in their last five road games and 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games overall. Meanwhile, the Thunder are 17-7 ATS in their last 24 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team above .600 and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 home games against a team with a winning road record.
Once again we saw how much the Thunder struggle to score points when Westbrook is on the bench so someone needs to step up and give him some scoring support or the Thunder will be staring down the barrel of a 3-0 series deficit. I’m expecting a better showing from the Thunder but in the end, I still think the Rockets come out with the win as they’re just too deep and talented compared to the Thunder.
